"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" - John 3:16
One of the most well-known and impactful Bible verses about Jesus' sacrifice is John 3:16, which states: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
It's difficult to comprehend the immense sacrifice that Jesus made for us. He left the glory of heaven to come to earth as a human, to live a perfect life and then die on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. He took the weight of the world's sin on His shoulders, so that we could be made right with God and have eternal life.
In Romans 5:8, Paul writes: "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." This verse shows us that even when we were undeserving and still lost in our sin, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
When we consider Jesus' sacrifice, it should move us to gratitude, humility, and a desire to live a life worthy of His sacrifice. As we approach Easter and remember the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, may we never take His sacrifice for granted. Let's strive to live in a way that honors Him and brings glory to God.
