The resurrection and its impact on our view of eternity
"The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" - John 11:25-26
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a powerful event that has shaped the faith and beliefs of Christians for centuries. In John 11:25-26, Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."
As believers, the resurrection offers us a new perspective on eternity. It reminds us that this life is not all there is, and that we have a hope and a future beyond this world. It's easy to get caught up in the worries and concerns of our daily lives, but the resurrection reminds us to keep our focus on eternal things.
The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:54-55, "When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.' Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The resurrection of Jesus gives us the assurance that death has been conquered and that we too will one day rise again to eternal life.
As we meditate on the resurrection and its impact on our view of eternity, let us be reminded to keep our focus on eternal things and to live our lives with the assurance of our future hope. Let us be encouraged to share this hope with others, so that they too may have the assurance of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Pray with us
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the victory over death that You have given us through Jesus Christ. Help us to live our lives in a way that reflects this truth, and to trust in Your power to transform us and bring us through any difficulty we may face. May we find comfort and hope in Your eternal promises, and may our lives be a testimony to Your love and grace. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
