Doubt and questioning
"We have seen the Lord" - John 20:24-29
One of the most relatable experiences for many believers is the struggle with doubt and questioning. It can be difficult to reconcile our faith with the challenges and uncertainties of life. Yet, it is precisely in these moments of questioning that we can draw closer to God and gain a deeper understanding of our faith.
One Bible verse that speaks to this struggle is John 20:24-29, which recounts the story of Thomas, who initially doubted the resurrection of Jesus. Despite having witnessed many of Jesus' miracles, Thomas still struggled to believe without tangible proof. However, when Jesus appeared to him and offered him the opportunity to touch his wounds, Thomas declared his faith, proclaiming "My Lord and my God!"
Thomas' story reminds us that even the most faithful can experience doubt and uncertainty, and that it is not a sign of weakness to question or seek clarity. In fact, it is through this process of questioning and seeking that we can deepen our faith and gain a more personal understanding of God's presence in our lives.
So, if you are struggling with doubt or questioning, know that you are not alone. Instead of pushing these feelings aside, embrace them and bring them to God in prayer. Ask for guidance and understanding, and trust in God's faithfulness to provide you with the answers you seek. May we all be like Thomas, willing to question and seek the truth, and ultimately declaring our faith in God.
