Listening and understanding
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry" - James 1:19
As followers of Jesus, we are called to live a life characterized by love. One important aspect of love is the ability to truly listen to and understand those around us. James 1:19 tells us: "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry".
When we are able to control our anger and approach conversations with an open mind and heart, we open ourselves up to the possibility of truly understanding and connecting with those around us.
Listening and understanding in love is an essential part of our relationship with God and with others. It is the key to healthy communication and the foundation of true connection. Let us strive to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, so that we may demonstrate the love of Jesus in our interactions with others.
As we seek to Listen and understand in love , Let us meditate on the words of Psalm 32:8 : "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you."
And also to keep in mind 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, it says "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
May we all be filled with God's love as we Listen and understand others with compassion and kindness.
Pray with us

Give us the patience to take the time to listen and hear what others have to say, and the humility to approach conversations with an open mind and heart. Amen.
