God’s promises for family
"But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord" - Joshua 24:15
As we go through life, we encounter many different types of families. Some families are close-knit, while others are more distant. Some families are happy and harmonious, while others struggle with dysfunction and conflict. But no matter what kind of family we come from, we can always take comfort in knowing that God has made many promises for families in the Bible.
One of the most important of these promises is that God desires for families to serve Him. In the book of Joshua, the famous leader Joshua speaks to the people of Israel and challenges them to choose whether they will serve the Lord or other gods. Joshua 24:15 declares, "But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
In this verse, Joshua acknowledges that his household, his family, is committed to serving God. He recognizes that serving the Lord is not just an individual choice, but a family decision. And he declares that his family will follow God's will no matter what.
This verse reminds us that God has a plan and purpose for our families. He wants us to be a united and devoted group that serves Him together. When we commit ourselves and our families to God, we can trust that He will bless us and guide us through all of life's ups and downs.
Let us take comfort in the promise that God desires for our families to serve Him. May we always choose to follow Him and invite His presence into our homes. Let us trust in His guidance and love as we journey together as a family.
Pray with us
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promises You have given us for our families. We trust in Your word that you will always be with us and guide us through every challenge we may face. We pray that You help us to love and support one another as a family, and to be a reflection of Your love to the world around us. Strengthen us in our faith and keep us steadfast in your promises, knowing that You have great plans for our families. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
