The blessing of fatherhood
"Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth" - Psalm 127:3-5
"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court." - Psalm 127:3-5.
Fatherhood is a blessing that comes with its own set of challenges and joys. As fathers, we are entrusted with the care and upbringing of our children, who are a heritage from the Lord. It is an honor and privilege to be given the responsibility to shape their lives and guide them in the way of the Lord.
The Bible compares children to arrows in the hands of a warrior. Just as a warrior must be skilled in using his arrows to hit his target, a father must be skilled in training and raising his children to become productive, responsible, and godly adults. This requires patience, wisdom, and love, and is not always an easy task. But the rewards are immeasurable.
When a man's quiver is full of children, it is a sign of God's blessing upon his life. It is a source of pride and joy to see one's children grow up and succeed in life. They bring laughter, love, and meaning to our lives. And when they face challenges, we can be there to support and guide them.
As fathers, let us remember that our role is not just to provide for our children materially, but also to provide spiritual guidance and support. Let us pray for wisdom and strength to fulfill this important responsibility, and let us be thankful for the blessing of fatherhood.
Pray with us
Dear Lord, thank You for the precious gift of fatherhood. Help us to appreciate and embrace the blessing it is to have a father in our lives. Guide and strengthen fathers to be loving, patient, and kind. Grant them wisdom, courage, and discernment as they lead their families. May they always remember the impact they have on their children's lives and the legacy they leave behind. Bless and protect all fathers, and help them to fulfill their role with joy and purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
